Emergency relief at the earthquake’s ground zero
On September 11, 2023, a 6.8 magnitude earthquake caused 2,901 deaths and 5,530 injuries, especially in the most isolated and impoverished rural areas of the Atlas, where adobe structures are common.
A team from Global Humanitaria traveled to the earthquake epicenter, Amizmiz, one of the hardest-hit towns south of Marrakech, to deliver emergency aid: 1,000 food rations, water, and hygiene products.
They also assessed the population’s most urgent needs and planned ways to be more effective and helpful in the months following the earthquake, with special attention to the safety of affected children.
